You can easily mirror your MacBook screen to an Android Smart TV wirelessly without using an HDMI cable. You can also use your Smart TV as a secondary display to extend your MacBook desktop and work on a bigger screen. For this, we will use the free AirScreen – AirPlay & Cast app. Follow these steps to connect your MacBook Air or MacBook Pro to your Android Smart TV.
1. Download and Install AirScreen on Android Smart TV
Open the Google Play Store on your Android Smart TV and search for AirScreen – AirPlay & Cast. Download and install the application. Once installed, open AirScreen and allow all the required permissions. Keep the application running on your TV.
2. Connect MacBook to Smart TV Wirelessly
Make sure your MacBook and Android Smart TV are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Now, on your MacBook, open Control Centre from the menu bar and click on Screen Mirroring. Your Smart TV name should appear in the available devices list. Select your TV name to establish a wireless connection. Your MacBook screen will now appear on your Smart TV.
3. Use Smart TV as a Secondary Display
You can also use your Android Smart TV as a secondary display instead of simply mirroring your MacBook screen. On your MacBook, open Control Centre and click on Screen Mirroring. Select the connected TV and look for the display option. Change the setting from mirroring to Extend Display or Use as Separate Display (depending on your macOS version). Now you can move windows, applications and files between your MacBook screen and Smart TV, just like using a second monitor.
Important: Your MacBook and Smart TV must always be connected to the same Wi-Fi network for wireless screen mirroring to work. The connection quality also depends on your Wi-Fi speed and network stability.
That's it! You can now wirelessly mirror your MacBook Pro or MacBook Air to an Android Smart TV and even use your television as a secondary display without connecting an HDMI cable.
