If you want to see your loved one’s photo covering the entire iPhone screen whenever they call you, you can do this using the iPhone’s Contact Poster and Incoming Calls settings. You can choose a favorite photo, customize how it appears, and then change the incoming call display from a small banner to Full Screen. This makes the incoming call screen look much more personal, with the caller’s photo displayed prominently behind the call controls.
What You Need
Before starting, make sure the person is saved in your Contacts and that you have a suitable photo available in the Photos app. The method shown in the video uses the iPhone’s built-in Contacts and Phone settings, so you don't need to install any third-party application.
Method 1: Set Your Loved One’s Photo for Incoming Calls
Step 1: Open the Contacts App
First, open the Contacts app on your iPhone.
You can also open the Phone app and select the Contacts tab.
Step 2: Select the Contact
Find the person whose photo you want to display when they call you.
Tap their name to open their contact information.
Step 3: Tap Edit
Once the contact page opens, tap Edit in the upper-right corner.
This will open the options for changing the contact's information and contact poster.
Step 4: Add or Change the Contact Photo
Tap the option for the contact's photo or poster.
You'll see options such as Camera and Photo Library. Select Photo Library if the picture you want is already saved on your iPhone.
Step 5: Select Your Favorite Photo
Choose the photo you want to use.
The iPhone will show you a preview where you can adjust the photo and choose how it should appear.
You can move or crop the image so that the important part of the photo is visible.
Step 6: Customize the Contact Poster
After selecting the photo, the iPhone lets you customize the contact poster.
Choose the photo-based poster and adjust it according to your preference.
Once you're happy with the result, continue to save the changes.
Step 7: Tap Done
Tap Done to save the new contact poster.
The selected photo is now associated with that contact and can be displayed when the person calls you.
Method 2: Make the Incoming Call Photo Full Screen
Setting the contact photo alone isn't enough if your iPhone is displaying incoming calls as a small banner. You also need to change the incoming-call display setting.
Step 1: Open Settings
Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
Step 2: Go to Apps
Scroll down and tap Apps.
This section contains settings for individual applications installed on your iPhone.
Step 3: Select Phone
Scroll through the list of apps and tap Phone.
Step 4: Tap Incoming Calls
Inside the Phone settings, find and tap Incoming Calls.
You'll see options for how incoming calls should appear when your iPhone is unlocked.
Step 5: Select Full Screen
You should see two options:
- Banner
- Full Screen
Select Full Screen.
This is the important setting that allows incoming calls to take over the screen instead of appearing as a small notification banner.
Test the Setting
After completing the steps, have the person whose contact poster you changed call your iPhone.
When the call comes in, the selected photo should appear across the incoming-call screen instead of only showing a small contact picture.
You'll still have the usual Accept, Decline, Message, and Remind Me controls, but the caller's photo will now be much more prominent.
What About Your Photo on Someone Else’s iPhone?
The same Contact Poster feature can also be used to create your own caller poster.
You can choose your own photo and customize your Contact Poster. When you call another person who has your contact information saved and supports Contact Posters, your selected poster can be shared and displayed according to their iPhone settings.
So, if your goal is to show your own photo when you call someone, set up your own Contact Poster from your contact card.
Important: Full Screen vs Contact Poster
These are two related but different settings.
Contact Poster determines the photo or design associated with the caller.
Incoming Calls → Full Screen determines whether incoming calls appear as a full-screen call interface or as a smaller banner when the iPhone is unlocked.
For the result shown in the video, you should set up the contact photo/poster and select Full Screen under Incoming Calls.
Final Result
Once everything is configured, your iPhone can display your loved one’s selected photo across the incoming call screen when they call you. Instead of seeing only a small contact image, you'll get a much larger, personalized calling screen with the photo clearly visible.
This is a simple built-in iPhone feature and is a great way to personalize your incoming calls without installing another app.
