If your Mi Smart TV always opens the PatchWall interface and you prefer the standard Android TV home screen, you can change the default launcher in just a few seconds. You do not need to install any third-party launcher, uninstall PatchWall, or reset your TV.
The video demonstrates a simple built-in setting that disables PatchWall as the default launcher. Once you turn this option off, your TV will open the Android TV launcher whenever you turn on the TV.
Step 1: Open TV Settings
From your Mi TV home screen, open Settings using the remote.
Step 2: Open Device Preferences
In the Settings menu, scroll down and select Device Preferences.
Step 3: Open PatchWall
Inside Device Preferences, find and select PatchWall.
Step 4: Turn Off the Default Launcher Option
Now find:
Set PatchWall as default launcher
Toggle this option OFF.
That's it. You do not need to change anything else.
What Happens After Disabling PatchWall?
After turning off Set PatchWall as default launcher, press the Home button or restart your TV.
From the next time you turn on your Mi Smart TV, the Android TV launcher will open instead of the PatchWall launcher.
You will see the standard Android TV home screen with options such as Search, Home, Shop, Discover, and Apps, along with your installed applications.
Do You Need to Uninstall PatchWall?
No. You do not need to uninstall or remove PatchWall from your Mi TV.
The setting simply stops PatchWall from being used as the default launcher. The PatchWall software can remain on the TV, while the Android TV launcher becomes your main home screen.
Can You Enable PatchWall Again?
Yes. If you want to switch back to PatchWall later, simply follow the same path:
TV Settings → Device Preferences → PatchWall → Set PatchWall as default launcher
Then turn the option ON again.
Quick Method
TV Settings → Device Preferences → PatchWall → Turn OFF “Set PatchWall as default launcher” → Done
After this, whenever you turn on your Mi Smart TV, the Android TV launcher will open by default instead of Mi TV PatchWall.
This is the easiest way to disable the Mi TV PatchWall launcher and use the Android TV launcher as your default home screen without installing any additional application or performing a factory reset.
