If you use Google Chrome on your phone every day, you don't have to stick with the same default background. Chrome lets you use your own picture as the background on the new tab page. You can choose any favorite photo from your phone and make the Chrome home page look more personal.
You don't need to install another app for this. The option is available directly inside Chrome, although the exact settings can depend on your Chrome version. You can also adjust the picture by zooming in or out so it fits the screen properly.

Open Chrome and Customise the New Tab Page
Open Chrome on your phone and tap the three dots in the top-right corner. Select Customise new tab page, then tap Appearance. If you don't see the Appearance option, update Chrome from the Play Store and check again.
Upload and Adjust Your Picture
Under Appearance, tap Upload an image and select your favorite picture from your phone. After selecting it, you can zoom in or zoom out and adjust the picture until it fits the screen the way you want. Once you're happy with the result, tap Save.
Now open a new tab in Chrome, and your selected picture should appear as the background behind the Google search page.
Choose a Picture That Looks Good
You can use almost any picture saved on your phone, such as a family photo, travel picture, wallpaper, car photo, nature image, or any other favorite image.
For the best result, choose a picture with the main subject positioned near the center. This helps prevent the search bar, shortcuts, or other Chrome elements from covering the important part of your photo.
If the picture doesn't look right after selecting it, use the zoom controls to adjust it instead of choosing another image.
How to Change the Picture Later
You can change your Chrome background whenever you want. Just open Chrome, tap the three dots, select Customise new tab page, and go to Appearance.
Tap Upload an image again and select another photo from your phone. Adjust the image if necessary and save it. The new picture will replace the previous background.
How to Reset Chrome to the Default Background
If you don't want to use your custom picture anymore, you can easily return to the original Chrome background.
Open Chrome → three dots → Customise new tab page → Appearance, and then tap Chrome default. This will remove your custom background and restore the default Chrome appearance.
You don't need to clear Chrome data or uninstall the browser just to remove the picture. The Chrome default option is enough.
What If Appearance Is Not Available?
If you cannot find the Appearance option, first check whether Chrome is updated. Open the Play Store, search for Google Chrome, and install any available update.
After updating Chrome, open it again and check Customise new tab page. Depending on your Chrome version or device, some options may appear differently or may not be available.
