Sometimes Smart TV WiFi stops working or your TV cannot connect directly to the internet. In that situation, you can easily share your laptop WiFi internet connection to your Android Smart TV or Samsung Smart TV using the Windows Mobile Hotspot feature. This method works great when TV WiFi is weak, not connecting, or not showing available networks.
If your laptop WiFi is not connecting to Smart TV, or the TV cannot detect your laptop hotspot, follow all the methods below carefully.
Turn On Mobile Hotspot on Laptop
Open Settings on your Windows laptop.
Go to Network & Internet.
Open Mobile hotspot.
Turn ON Mobile hotspot.
Inside Share my internet connection from, select your connected WiFi network.
Inside Share over, select Wi-Fi.
Open Properties and check the hotspot name and password.
You can also click Edit to change the hotspot name and password if needed.
Your laptop will now start sharing internet like a WiFi router.
Understanding the Mobile Hotspot Settings
The screenshot above shows the correct Windows Mobile Hotspot setup.
Mobile Hotspot Toggle
Turn ON the top Mobile hotspot switch to start sharing your laptop internet.
Share My Internet Connection From
This option selects which internet connection your laptop will share with the TV.
If your laptop is already connected to WiFi, select that WiFi connection here.
Share Over
Keep this option set to Wi-Fi so your Smart TV can detect the hotspot wirelessly.
Properties Section
Inside Properties, you can see:
- WiFi Name
- Password
- Band
Use this WiFi name and password to connect your Smart TV.
Band Option
If your TV cannot detect the hotspot, change the hotspot band from 5 GHz to 2.4 GHz because many older Smart TVs only support 2.4 GHz WiFi.
Connect Smart TV to Laptop WiFi
Open your Smart TV Settings.
Go to Network or WiFi Settings.
If your TV was already connected to another WiFi network earlier, select that WiFi and choose Forget Network or Disconnect.
Now select Search for WiFi Networks.
Look for your laptop hotspot name.
If your TV does not show the hotspot immediately, select Show All Networks or refresh the WiFi list.
Once the WiFi appears, select your laptop hotspot name.
Enter the WiFi password shown on your laptop hotspot settings.
Now press Connect.
Your Smart TV should now start using your laptop internet connection.
Fix Laptop WiFi Not Showing on Smart TV

Fix Smart TV WiFi Connected But Internet Not Working
Sometimes the TV connects but internet still does not work properly. Incorrect date and time settings can cause this issue on many Android TVs and Samsung Smart TVs.
Follow these steps carefully.
Set Correct Date & Time on Smart TV
Open Settings on your Smart TV.
Go to System or General Settings.
Open Date & Time.
Turn ON Automatic Date & Time.
Select the correct Country and Region.
Choose the correct Time Zone.
Restart the TV once after changing the settings.
Now reconnect the laptop hotspot again.
This fixes many Smart TV internet connection problems, app loading issues, and WiFi authentication errors.
Extra Tips to Improve Connection
- Keep laptop charger connected while using hotspot
- Disable VPN on laptop if internet is not working
- Update laptop WiFi driver
- Restart router once if laptop internet itself is slow
- Keep TV software updated
Using a laptop hotspot is one of the easiest ways to use internet on Smart TVs when normal WiFi connection is not working properly.
