If you reset or format your PC, one of the biggest problems is missing drivers like WiFi, display, sound, or Bluetooth. Without internet, it becomes even harder to reinstall them. This method helps you backup and restore all Windows drivers (Windows 10 & Windows 11) safely, so after a hard reset you can quickly reinstall everything offline without any issue.
Method to Backup All Windows Drivers
Follow these simple steps carefully:
-
Create a backup folder on another drive like D, E, or F, or on an external USB drive, avoid creating it on the C drive (Windows installed drive), while creating the folder make sure do not use space in folder name, for example use DriverBackup, then right-click on the folder and click on “Copy as Path”.
- Open Command Prompt as Administrator, then paste the copied path after the command like this:
dism /online /export-driver /destination:F:\DriverBackup
If your copied path shows with quotes, remove the quotes, and make sure there are no spaces in folder name.
- Press Enter, now Windows will start exporting all installed drivers, wait until the process completes, all drivers will be saved in your backup folder.
Method to Reinstall Drivers After Format or Reset
Once your PC is formatted or reset, follow these steps to restore drivers:
- Open Device Manager, then right-click on your PC name at the top, and click on Add drivers option.
- Click on Browse, then select your backup folder (DriverBackup), and click Next.
- Windows will automatically detect and install all available drivers from that folder.
-
If it asks to restart your PC, make sure to restart to apply all drivers properly.
